The Bret Harte Community Club (BHCC) is a parent run organization (Bret Harte Educational Association Tax ID# 77-0342966).
Our goal is to support our school (teachers and administration), students, and parents.
With a large and enthusiastic group of parent volunteers, BHCC is actively involved in organizing and financially supporting various activities and events inside as well as outside the classroom at Bret Harte.
We organize, sponsor, and fund classroom and school Instructional Needs and Supplies, Technology, Project Cornerstone, Award Nights, Teacher Appreciation, 8th Grade Promotion. BHCC also organizes and manages parent volunteers during lunch at the SNAC Store and Lunch Carts, Student Bronco Nights, Cultural Fair, and School Library.
We aim to ensure that all parents receive up-to-date information on events and activities going on in school. As a part of this, we have established a database of parent e-mail addresses to enable us to use this medium to give parents an extra source of information. Volunteer & Get Involved
2016-2017 Bret Harte Volunteer Sign-Up Form
We would like to encourage all new and returning parents to take an active role in the Community Club. If you would like to volunteer for any jobs on Campus you need to be a ‘Cleared Volunteer’. This is a district wide policy.
To become a ‘Cleared Volunteer’ you need to go through the ‘New Volunteer Process’ or the ‘Returning Volunteer Process.
Returning Volunteer Process
You are considered a returning volunteer if you have been fingerprinted by SJUSD after August 2010 and you have a current TB test on file. Fill out a ‘Returning Volunteer Form’, you can get the form from Belinda Anstey, secretary in the office and turn the form back into her and she will submit it. It takes a few weeks (up to a month) to be ‘Cleared’. We will notify you once you are ‘Cleared’.
New Volunteer Process
If you have never been fingerprinted by SJUSD (or you did it prior to August 2010), the process is a little longer. You need to fill out the ‘New Volunteer Form’, you can get the form from Belinda Anstey, secretary in the office. You also need to get a TB test and make an appointment with the San Jose School District to get fingerprinted, call Mona at 408-535-6000 x15013 right away (as they get backed up). Take the signed Volunteer Form, TB results, and $10 cash (they don’t take credit cards) to your fingerprinting appointment at the district office.
