Bret Harte Middle School > Cross Country 6th-8th ES, Fall
Head Coach: Bill Lavallee
Welcome to Bret Harte Middle Schools Cross Country program! Please take time to read through this packet and save the information for future reference. We tried to include as much information as possible. We are looking forward to a fun and exciting Cross-Country season.
Our Philosophy
Bret Harte’s Cross Country program goals are to first introduce students to the sport, condition them to compete, and then help them improve as the season progresses. Our main focus will be on individual improvement. We will also support athletes competitive drive. We have fun through competition but expect the athletes to take practices and meets seriously.
6 Teams:
C girls (based on height), 7th grade girls (includes 6th grade girls that are not on the C team), and 8th grade girls
A boys, B boys and C boys
All boy teams are determined by height, weight, and birth dates, which together make up the ìexponentsî. Official measurement dates will be next week.
Paperwork, Fees and Uniforms
Packets and fees ($90)
Uniforms will only be issued to students with a Completed paper work packet and fees. Clean uniforms must be returned before the awards night.
Schedule and Schedule Changes
See below for practice and meet schedules. Please check with your athlete every week about possible changes to the schedule.
Practices are from 3:00 to 4:00PM. Meet behind the boys locker room.
We expect athletes to attend practices if possible.
In order to compete in a meet, the athlete should have participated in at least one practice day that week.
Practices will be scheduled Monday through Thursday with meets on Thursday most weeks. This first week we will have practice Friday.
Other Practice Rules
Athletes please arrive on time. This gives you a chance to warm up and stretch with the team before running.
Safety is our first priority. Athletes will learn and follow all safety and etiquette procedures for each event in which they participate.
Athletes are responsible for their own behavior. All Bret Harte student athletes can and will behave appropriately.
This is a team. Treat all teammates and coaches with respect. We will encourage each other at all times.
Proper attire is required for practice. Students should be wearing shorts and running shoes.
