TODAY IS THURSDAY MARCH 18, 2010

The first day of practice for TRACK is this Mon., March 22nd at 2:45 p.m.  If you are interested, be sure to sign up in Student Services and pick up a medical form to be turned in on or before March 22nd.

Sign-ups are now available for TENNIS in Student Services.

You can go online to enter or change course selections.  The last day to enter/change course selections is Sunday April 4, at 8:00pm.  There are many scheduling resources on the Leland High School website to help you in making your choices. Please plan to attend your assigned session:


ASB IS SELLING LOW SUGAR CANDY that you fill with your favorite flavors during lunch in the Quad TODAY. The cost is a $1.00 per tube (no refills, 2 per customer per sale).

The Nancy Edwards Remembrance Wall Mural - CONTEST will run March 17th through April 2nd.  The Theme is “Treasured Memories and Inspirations”.  Artwork can be black/white or colored.

- “Bret Harte Middle School’s CJSF Spring Project is designing a remembrance Mural in honor of Mrs. Nancy Edwards, Art Teacher, who passed away last fall.  All artwork must fit on 8 1/2” x 11” unlined paper.  The art piece should be an abstract form reflecting Mrs. Edwards inspiration and influence on the individual’s art.  Please include a short essayt of 100 words or less expressing how Mrs. Edward’s influenced your work.  CJSF is also planning to run a fundraiser to help defray the cost of supplies for the Mural.  (TBA)  The Plan is to have the Mural completed by promotion in June.  Please submit artwork in the box provided in Student Services.  Be sure to include your name, grade and 5th period teacher on the back of your artwork.  Thank you.

Tomorrow we will be playing HIP-HOP MUSIC as a result of the trash can selection.  Thanks for your participation.

PENNIES FOR PATIENTS:  Our goal is $500.  So far we have raised $257.76!  As of this week the classes that have raised the most money are:  Leadership, Mrs. Yokota and Mrs. Weltz.  There will be a booth in the Quad today, where you can donate money.

There will be a GOLF MEETING for those students interested in trying out for Golf on Wed., March 24th in C-12 during lunchtime.

The CULTURAL FAIR - ART CONTEST will run March 16th through March 31st.  The Theme is “Treasured Landmarks of Our World”.  Artwork can be black/white or colored.  Artwork must include the words: 
- “Treasured Landmarks of our World”
- “Bret Harte Middle School Cultural Fair and Open House, May 12, 2010, 4:30-8:30p.m.
All artwork must fit on 8 1/2” x 11” unlined paper.  Please submit artwork in the box provided in Student Services.  Be sure to include your name, grade and 5th period teacher on the back of your artwork.  See your winning artwork on the 2010 program, receive a prize, a certificate, and a surprise reward too!  If you have any questions, contact Mrs. Nerhood.

The FRENCH CLUB will again be selling savory and sweet crepes at lunch on Tuesdays and Fridays next week.  They will also be offering diablos, a popular fruity drink for French teens.  Crepes will be sold for $2.00 and diabolos will be sold for $1.00.  Items will be sold in front of Ms. Blackwood’s room C-11.
