The NEW AND IMPROVED Bret Harte library will be open beginning Monday, Oct. 8, which is the first day we return from fall break. The library is open:

Mondays - Fridays from 9:30AM – 12:45PM and 1:30PM – 4:00PM

Help to respect our brand new library by following the rules:
o No drinks (water, milk, soda and/or juice)
o No food, candy, or gum
o Remember to speak in a quiet voice, in library, since others around you are reading and/or studying
o Be polite and thoughtful to your classmates
o Your teacher must send you to library with a library pass during class time
o You may check out 2 library books to your name for two weeks.  Renewals as long as another student doesn’t have a hold on that book title

You MUST have a current Bret Harte student ID card in order to check out book(s). See Mrs. Orlowicz in Student Services if you need to purchase a new ID card. The replacement fee is $5.00.  Please see additional library rules in your student handbook or stop by library to chat with me and I will answer any questions you may have about the Bret Harte library..  Many worked hard during the summer to remodel the library and a great deal of money was spent on this project We hope you enjoy it and look forward to seeing you in the library,  Mrs. Shepard

Bret Harte First Bronco Night: Tickets are on sale through Friday, September 21st or until tickets are sold out at the windows of Student Services during lunch and after school until 3:30 p.m. You MUST have a current student ID card in order to purchase a ticket. See Mrs. Orlowicz in Student Services if you need to purchase a new ID card. The replacement fee is $5.00. The cost of the dance ticket is $3.00 with ASB sticker and $7.00 without ASB sticker. Parents or guardians must read and sign the back of the dance ticket in order for their Bret Harte student to attend the dance. NO EXCEPTIONS. Tickets are nonrefundable and non-transferable. We have only 20 tickets remaining for purchase.

Girl’s Basketball – Coach Zanetich, “Ms. Z” and Coach K, will be leading our Lady Broncos in the 2018 Girls Basketball Season. If you are interested in playing this year, please attend a pre-tryout information session, on Friday, September 21st, in the Bronco Hangout during lunch – please arrive at the start of lunch!  Tryouts will be held on Monday, October 8th, starting at 3:30 – 5:15 in the gymnasium for our 8th grade girls, followed by tryouts for our 6th and 7th grade girls from 5:15 – 7:00.  The Lady Broncos open their season, Tuesday, 10/23, at home court against Burnett with the first game starting at 4:00!

Good job getting in the spirit Broncos:  The 5th Period class that had the most students dress up throughout the week will receive their reward on Tuesday, Sept. 25th

Sports Information:  Are your students interested in playing any sports at Bret Harte? If so, please go online at registermyathlete.com * and register them now! The process is two pronged and may take a few weeks to complete since a physician’s approval and signature is required before any student athlete may try-out for a sport at Bret Harte. And, all athletes must be completely registered by the deadlines below in order to be able to tryout. If the deadlines are not met, student athletes will not be able to tryout or practice with that team this season.


Boys Soccer Tryouts
Monday 10/8 - Thursday 10/11 (ALL tryout days must be attended)
3:30-5:30 p.m on the BH Fields
Wear shin guards and bring water

Girls BB Tryouts
• Monday 10/8 - Tuesday 10/9 (both tryout days must be attended)
• A team (mostly 8th graders) 3:00-5:00 p.m. in the BH GYM
• B team (only 6th and 7th graders) 5:00-7:00 p.m. in the BH GYM

Wrestling Practices
• Starts Sept. 24th from 3-5 p.m. in the BH Cafeteria
• Practices continue every Monday through Thursday from 3-5 p.m.
Bring wrestling shoes and wear athletic attire

BEFORE tryouts (and by the deadline written above), an athlete’s parent/guardian must complete the following items in order to participate in any BHMS athletic tryout process/athletic practice:

1. Register athlete online at registermyathlete.com
2. Athlete’s physician must fill out an Athletic Medical Exam Screening Form and upload this completed form to registermyathlete.com or bring the hard copy to Sylvia in Student Services.
3. Athlete’s parent/guardian must fill out a Medical History Form and upload this completed form to registermyathlete.com or bring the hard copy to Sylvia in Student Services.
