Leadership Positions Available with the Bret Harte Community Club
For those parents that will continue to have students attending Bret Harte next school year, please consider taking one of the following positions still available on the Board of the Bret Harte Community Club for 2018-2019:

Co-President: This person would share with another volunteer in the responsibilities of being the CEO of the BHCC in 2018-2019.

Secretary: This person keeps a record of all Club meetings, provides the minutes of each meeting to the Board members, and conducts all necessary correspondence of the BHCC under the direction of the President and/or Board. The Secretary also keeps & maintains the Master Community Club binder which includes the bylaws, mission statement, and job descriptions for all officers.

Communications Chair: Arranges for all publicity for the Board, within the school community and also the Almaden community at large. Responsible for gathering and arranging timely content for monthly BHCC e-Newsletter.

Everyday Heroes Chair(s): Oversee Everyday Heroes program where students nominate fellow Bret Harte students as Everyday Heroes.

SNAC Chair(s): Oversee Student Nutrition Advisory Committee (SNAC), promoting nutrition and fitness awareness and education on campus; provide recommendations for healthful alternatives for students during lunch and snack times (managing student SNAC store).

Staff Appreciation Chair(s): Plans and executes 3-4 lunches for the Bret Harte staff to show our appreciation for all they do for our students.

Join us for the BHCC General Meeting on Tuesday, May 15 at 9:30AM in the Staff Dining Room to hear final reports regarding the BHCC’s impact on our school community this past year.

The Scholastic Book Fair is right around the corner!  The details are as follows:
The theme of the book fair is PAWS FOR BOOKS.  So Bret Harte Broncos get your paws on to some pawsome books to fill up your home or classroom library.

Bret Harte Community Club Donation Drive: Donations can be made anytime during the year and will be entered into our monthly drawing. We are still working to reach our donation drive goals and would love to fulfill all the vital requests we’re receiving from staff members. Please consider donating today. Career Day Professionals Needed: Bret Harte will be having Career Day for 8th grade student on May 11th from 9-noon. It is for our 8th grade students to get a better understanding of the different occupations available to them after their schooling. If you have a profession that you are passionate about and would like to share it with our 8th grade student community - please contact .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or sign up:
In the course of meeting with you, they will gain:
1. Insight into your profession
2. Understand the education/training needed for your profession
3. What type of personality traits are best suited for someone in your position
4. Answer questions they may have to understand what you do
This is a time to open their eyes to what lies ahead for them and inspire them to think beyond middle and high school.
You don’t need to prepare any formal presentations, we lay it all out for our participants who volunteering their time. If you would like to participate, please sign up - 1st come 1st serve by profession!​

Booster Club Needs You!
The Booster Club is looking for your help.  They are looking to fill the president and treasurer roles for the next school year. Does your child play a sport at Bret Harte or participate in any of the lunch-time clubs? If they do, then you should be aware that the Booster Club must have a voting board to continue funding sports and clubs on campus. Incoming parents are welcome to apply as there are returning members to assist in the transition to the role.  They meet once a month in the evening. Bret Harte will be having Career Day for 8th grade student on May 11th from 9-noon. Our goal is to have professionals from all backgrounds and types of careers to provide insight and inspiration to our 8th graders of the opportunities available to them after school.

You don’t need to prepare a formal presentation, this is a Q&A session.

Please mark your calendars! Bret Harte’s Cultural Faire returns with 21 country booths full of
fun, facts, and surprises. Bring the whole family to enjoy our fabulous community representing
so many beautiful and talented cultural backgrounds. Our talented students will present
programs to entertain you as you browse the various booths. Food will be offered for purchase
by an assortment of food trucks.
In addition, the Invisible Issues student charity group of Bret Harte will be offering a Silent
Auction with nearly 100 items. 100% of all proceeds will go to our sister school :
The Doris Dillon School in Cambodia.
