Music Program

K - 3rd Grade music program at Graystone

Students in Kindergarten through third grade participate in music instruction from the Community School of Music and Arts.  Kindergarteners have music once a week for 30 minutes and first through third graders have music every other week for 45 minutes.  Students learn singing and musical notation as well as introducing a “guest instrument” each week.

In second grade, students are introduced to the recorder and learn to play simple songs.  Using what they learned in Kindergarten and first grade about musical notation, students work on recorder techniques and reading music. Bells and percussion instruments are also used in all of the grades.

Spread throughout the year, students will participate in grade level recitals.  Information about the performances will come home with your child.  All of the students seem to really enjoy music class and we appreciate the generosity of the Home & School Club in providing the funding to support music at Graystone.
