WEB Leaders at Hoover!
Hoover Middle School is now in its second year of using the WEB (Where Everybody Belongs) Program. At the end of the last school year, 7th grade students applied and were chosen to be WEB leaders for their 8th grade year. These dedicated 8th graders gave up part of their summer to help make Hoover a better place by facilitating an orientation for incoming 6th grade students.
The WEB leaders came to Hoover for two days of training, for four hours each day. At the trainings, WEB leaders learned how to become a team, and how to lead cooperative, “get to know you” activities with incoming 6th graders. They participated in a number of team building activities and practiced leading a group of their peers in the WEB activities. They then had to go home for the weekend and study their leader handbooks in order to be prepared for Monday’s Orientation. The WEB leaders were awesome. They all brought a positive attitude and made orientation a very special and memorable experience for our 6th grade students. Hoover WEB leaders ROCK!
