
INTRODUCTION:
Welcome to Hoover Middle School’s Physical Education Department Web site. We believe that physical education offers students a way to experience and discover cooperative skills and enjoyment of physical activity through a variety of sports and games. Our 6th graders will focus on lead up specific skills and lead-up games. In 7th, grade students will focus on dual sports, individual activities and rules of the game. By the 8th grade students will be focusing on team sports and strategies for team sports. We hope to inspire all students to be healthy, caring, fit individuals.

GRADING:
Each student’s grade is determined by the number of points he/she earns in skills tests, written work , participation and attendance. It is the student’s responsibility to make any missed assignments. Students should see their teacher for more information Points for all units within a semester will be totaled for a final semester grade in combination with our non-suit policy.
A= 90-100%
B= 80-89%
C= 70-79%
D= 60-69%
F= 59-0%
NON-SUIT POLICY:
Students in physical education are expected to come to class daily wearing the physical education uniform. Students may also purchase light gray sweatpants and sweatshirts at local department stores to wear to physical education class. When students are out of this specified uniform they will receive a non-suit resulting in a 1/3 letter grade deduction from their final grade. For more information download our NON-SUIT letter.

EXPECTATIONS:
All students are expected to participate and dress daily. They also will be held accountable for following class rules, proper locker room conduct, respecting others and safety for all.
LOCKERS:
A P.E. locker will be issued to each student at the beginning of the school year at no cost. This locker will be used all year and should be used only to store items for physical education. It is important to lock up personal belongings and not to share the combination with anyone! locker-room.pdf
