Important Information for Parents of Incoming 7th Graders
All incoming 7th grade students must have documentation on file with the school district showing that they received a Tdap or pertussis booster on or after their 7th birthday no later than the first day of school, August 15th.  Students will not be able to pick up their schedules (on August 7th for 7th graders) without this proof, and students will not be able to attend school until the documentation is on file.  For more information:  Pertussis Booster Talking Points 4.12.pdf

School Health Clinics of Santa Clara County/SHCSCC
School Health Clinics of Santa Clara County keep kids healthy and in school by providing high quality, easily accessible primary medical care and preventive health services to low-income children and adolescents.  Good health is basic to a child’s ability to succeed in school and in life. Yet children are the most medically underserved group in Santa Clara County. As the public safety net of health care services is reduced, families need us more than ever. They increasingly rely on our school-based health clinics to put their children on the road to a healthy future.

Uniform Donations
Greetings Hoover Families:
This is a request to all Hoover Middle School parents: Please consider donating your student’s outgrown, gently used uniform clothing to the school for their “spares” store.  We are looking for all sizes of plain, undecorated polo shirts and sweatshirts (green, white, gray) and pants/shorts in khaki cotton, polyester, denim or corduroy.  Please bring all used clothing donations to the front office.  Thank you very much!

Estimados Padres, Abuelos y Tutores:

Health Information

Flu Prevention

Parents, as you may know, flu can be easily spread from person to person. Therefore, we are taking steps to reduce the spread of flu at Hoover.  We are working closely with the Public Health Department to monitor flu conditions and make decisions about the best steps to take concerning schools. We will keep you updated with new information as it becomes available.
Parent cooperation will be important in keeping our students healthy and limiting the spread of influenza.

  • Teach your children to wash their hands often with soap and water or an alcohol-based hand rub. You can set a good example by doing this yourself.
  • Teach your children not to share personal items like drinks, food or unwashed utensils, and to cover their coughs and sneezes with tissues.  Covering up their coughs or sneezes using the elbow, arm or sleeve instead of the hand when a tissue is unavailable.
  • Know the signs and symptoms of the flu. Symptoms of the flu include fever (100 degrees Fahrenheit, 37.8 degrees Celsius or greater), cough, sore throat, a runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, and feeling very tired. Some people may also vomit or have diarrhea.
  • Keep sick children at home for at least 24 hours after they no longer have fever or do not have signs of fever, without using fever-reducing drugs.  Keeping children with a fever at home will reduce the number of people who may get infected.
  • Do not send children to school if they are sick. Any children who are determined to be sick while at school will be sent home.

Estimados padres:
