Welcome to Life Science, 2017 - 2018!

In class we will study living things and their relationship with their surroundings. Each student will learn concepts defined by Common Core and the associated Next Generation Science Standards, the vocabulary of science, and develop the skills necessary for scientific thinking and working with others.

In-class reference links:

Units covered:

  • Scientific Method and Safety
  • Chemistry and Energy
  • Ecosystems
  • Geologic Time
  • Living Systems and Human Impact
  • Engineering Design

Attendance and Absences
Since classwork builds upon previous classwork, being present in class each day is critical to learning.  A student with an excused absence will be given one makeup day for each day missed to complete and turn in missed work.  Work that is not turned in will not be graded. Tests may be taken up to one week after the student returns to class.

About me
I graduated from U.C Berkeley (undergrad) and UC San Francisco (graduate).  After a career in health care, I decided to make a change and go into teaching, hoping to be able to make a more lasting influence on the next generation.  I received my teaching credential from San Jose State and have been teaching Life Science at Hoover since.  I am committed to do my best, and will support each student to do their best.
