A Day in the Life of a Charger
Message from the SuperintendentDear parents and students,
Welcome to the 2014-2015 school year! I hope you enjoyed your summer break and that you're ready for another great year of teaching and learning. Over the summer, the school district staff was hard at work getting ready to welcome you back. Our work will remain focused on the implementation of the school district’s strategic plan – Opportunity21. As we begin this school year, we continue to move this plan forward. Specifically, we will focus on ensuring that we have the highest quality staff in our schools. We know that retaining and recruiting high quality teachers and support staff will help ensure our students receive the finest 21st century education. This year we continue with implementation of the Common Core State Standards as we challenge our students with a more rigorous curriculum, continue to use data to drive decision-making, and identify ways in which to be continue to be more effective and efficient in the delivery of our services. All of this work will help all San Jose Unified students succeed. Again, welcome back! I know you are ready to work hard and I challenge you to do so. We will be here to guide and support you on your quest to success! Have a great 2014-2015 school year.
Dr. Vincent Matthews Superintendent
SJCC has scheduled placement test sessions at the SJCC campus on Sat., August 23rd at 9:00 am and 11:30 am. These sessions have been scheduled specifically for Leland students. If you have not taken the placement test, yet, you must report to one of the testing sessions at SJCC with the following items ( see requirement doc )
WASC AccreditationThe Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) has granted accreditation to Leland High School through June 30, 2020. This was the best possible outcome of our self-study report and the WASC committee's visit in March 2014. All Leland stakeholders, including staff, students, parents, and the community, played a critical role in earning this accreditation status. Congratulations! We will focus on our WASC Action Plan for the next six years. A mid-year report is due to WASC in 2017.
