I. Title: Accounts Payable/Receivable Technician
II.Definition
Under supervision perform accounting/clerical work in verifying the accuracy of reports to ensure the correctness and completeness of the various processes, which includes the collection and review of computerized data input/output and does related work consistent with the job description.
III.Examples of Duties
Responsibilities include entering data through the use of computer terminals, editing of data and analysis of work progress; audit of summary financial reports to locate errors that account for discrepancies; gather, assemble, process, and edit all journal vouchers, accounts receivable, and accounts payable input and output data; assist the accounts payable function in analyzing bill warrant payment questions or discrepancies; prepare journals; verify accounts receivable/payable batch balance summaries and bill warrant registers; prepare required documents for stop payment orders, outlawed and voided warrants for both payroll and bill warrants.

V.Employment Standards
A.Knowledge of: Principles, practices, terminology and common forms used in computerized accounting and general ledgers; Modern office procedures, practices and equipment; General principles and operation of computer systems; Federal, State and District regulations; State Accounting Manual and District Chart of Accounts.
B.Ability to: Prepare, maintain, and audit functional reports from a variety of supporting records; Make mathematical calculations with speed and accuracy using a calculator, or by creating formulas in a spreadsheet; Analyze a variety of financial records, find and correct discrepancies with speed and accuracy; Use a computer terminal and accounting software; Maintain cooperative and effective working relationships; Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
C.Education/Training/Experience: Completion of 12th grade or equivalent and two years of experience in computerized financial or statistical recordkeeping work; or any combination of education, experience and training which meets or exceeds standards of knowledge, skills, and abilities listed above, including or supplemented by courses in computer assisted accounting.
D.Licenses/Certificates:
Valid California Driver's License.
