I.Title Attendance Improvement Clerk
II.Definition
Under supervision of an Assistant Principle is responsible for Attendance/School Discipline; to research students with attendance problems; and to do related work consistent with the job description.
III.Examples of Duties
Input entries into computer; make computer printouts for students eligible for AIM, enroll/disenroll students in the computer into/out of the AIM class; input attendance records; carry out follow-up studies related to student attendance; make phone calls to parents who have students who are possible AIM candidates; report students who are eligible for AIM to Assistant Principles; work with students to clear up minor attendance problems; verify absences and tardies with parents; remind parents and students about school policies and procedures concerning AIM; compile files for AIM students; notify parents, teachers, AIM teacher, and office staff of a student entering or returning to class; send out work requests to teachers for school work; prepare information on students transferring to Alternative School for the Dean of Guidance; and train and supervise students working in the AIM office.

This position is primarily concerned with AIM program.
V.Employment Standards
A.Knowledge of: District attendance and discipline policies and procedures; Office methods and reporting procedures; Computer data input and retrieval systems; English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation; Telephone etiquette.
B.Ability to: Relate to students in a warm and caring manner; Learn to operate a computer terminal using appropriate programs; Meet the public tactfully and courteously and to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships; Learn and apply district rules and policies concerning attendance and discipline; Supervise student assistants; Organize and maintain accurate daily, weekly, and monthly records; Understand computer printouts; Deal with parents in a sensitive manner.
C.Education/Training/Experience: Completion of 12th grade or equivalent, or any combination of education, experience, and training which meets or exceeds the standards of knowledge, skills, and abilities listed above.
D.Conditions of Employment: Must pass District clerical test.
