Terrell School Uniform Policy

1. Students are expected to attend school each day in the basic school uniform, a burgundy, navy, ash gray, or white polo shirt, or white blouse or button down shirt, or turtleneck, navy shorts, skort, pants, jumper skirt, a plaid jumper and sweatshirts. Corduroy material is acceptable. (Navy blue sweats are allowed during the winter months.)

2. All clothing must be size-appropriate for the student. Denim jeans and baggy pants are not acceptable. Shredding or tearing the bottom of the pants legs is not acceptable. Students should not wear spaghetti straps, tank tops, halter tops, and short shorts.

3. “Generic” uniforms must conform to the uniform policy. School logo is optional. Please check the Enrollment Center or the Terrell display for proper colors and style.

4. A sweater may be worn in addition to the basic uniform. It must be school uniform colors.

5. Sweatshirt must be a plain light ash gray, burgundy, or navy with or without the school logo, and must be worn right side out.

6. NO RED OUTERWEAR ALLOWED.

7. There can be no names, inscriptions, or logos on sweatshirts, polo shirts or turtlenecks except for Terrell logo on sweatshirt.

8. Tights may be worn under the skirt, skorts, jumpers or shorts. The tights must be white, navy blue, gray, or burgundy.

9. Belts are optional.

10.. Socks must be a solid color (white, gray, navy blue or burgundy) and must be worn with all footwear. Knee socks are acceptable.

11. Thongs, sandals, and shoes without support are not recommended as the potential for injury is high.

12. Students are to be in uniform every day. Our focus is academics -- NOT peer pressure/clothing styles.

13. If a family chooses not to wear the uniform, please send a letter to the office for our files.

14. The Dunbar plaid jumper and skirt, and the Terrell logo sweatshirt are available at Merry Mart, 33 Washington St., Santa Clara 95050, 296-0423. All other uniform items may be purchased at a variety of department and discount stores in the area (Sears, Target, JC Penney, K-Mart, Macys, Mervyns, etc.)
