Principal’s Message

Emily Burton, Principal

Emily Burton, Principal

Dear Reed Elementary School Community,

It is with great pride, enthusiasm, and honor that I assume the role of Principal of Reed Elementary School for the 2018-2019 school year.

Prior to arriving to Reed, I served students as the Assistant Principal of Instruction at Pioneer High School for two years and for three years before that, I was Assistant Principal at Hoover Middle School. Before I joined San José Unified, I was a high school history teacher for eight years. I graduated from Stanford University with a Master’s Degree in Education and I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Geography from the University of California, Los Angeles.

I look forward to working with parents, the staff, and community at Reed to ensure that our students have access to a rigorous education that inspires them to achieve their individual greatness. United, we will elevate opportunities for all to ensure that our students are prepared to be the thinkers, leaders, and creators of tomorrow.

As you join me in eagerly anticipating the start of the school year, please refer to the letters linked to on this page for answers to any questions you may currently have.
