The Hoover Middle School Advanced Orchestra, Concert Choir, and Women’s Choir participated in the Music in the Parks festival this past weekend in Southern California (and yes, we also got to play in Disneyland!).  The students performed extremely well and were honored with the following awards:

Advanced Orchestra….. Excellent rating….. 1st place
Concert Choir…..       Excellent rating…..   1st place
Women’s Choir…..     Superior rating…..   1st place

In addition, the Women’s Choir was named Outstanding Choir of the entire festival.  The students comported themselves with great poise and represented Hoover Middle School and SJUSD extremely well.

The Lincoln HS bands and choirs just returned from their very successful Annual Spring Tour, this year to San Diego. Awards received this year at the Heritage Festival include:

In addition, senior Katsuya Yuasa was honored with the Maestro Outstanding Soloist Award for his performances with Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band and Estetica.

Last weekend (4/4/09) SJHA received straight Excellent Ratings and the Band received Good ratings at the California Music Educators’ Association competition!  Great job! Go Bulldogs! 

The Santa Clara County Office of Education (SCCOE) is pleased to announce the 2009 Young Artists Showcase Competition. Pre‐Kindergarten through twelfth grade teachers, both art teachers as well as generalists, are encouraged to submit original student artwork for selection into the SCCOE’s permanent collection. Submissions will be limited to one art work per student, and 10 submissions per school. All Santa Clara County Public/Charter schools and pre‐school programs are eligible to participate. Congratulations to the Pioneer National Art Honor Society and the Pioneer Art Club!  Their Dr. Suess themed tree won first place in the Art Competition at Christmas in the Park. Well done!
