Hoover participates in Music in the ParksThe Hoover Middle School Advanced Orchestra, Concert Choir, and Women’s Choir participated in the Music in the Parks festival this past weekend in Southern California (and yes, we also got to play in Disneyland!). The students performed extremely well and were honored with the following awards:
In addition, the Women’s Choir was named Outstanding Choir of the entire festival. The students comported themselves with great poise and represented Hoover Middle School and SJUSD extremely well. Gunderson’s 8th Annual Film FestivalThis showcase featured students’ work from the Advanced Multimedia class. To see the movie trailers visit Gunderson’s school website. Lincoln High Spring Tour a Huge Success!The Lincoln HS bands and choirs just returned from their very successful Annual Spring Tour, this year to San Diego. Awards received this year at the Heritage Festival include: Chamber Chorale Chamber Chorale & Women’s Ensemble In addition, senior Katsuya Yuasa was honored with the Maestro Outstanding Soloist Award for his performances with Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band and Estetica. Congratulations to ALL of our ensembles for a job well done!
...And The Award Goes To….Castillero participated in the 2009 Heritage Festival in Anaheim. Their awards included: Advanced Orchestra-Gold, Outstanding Orchestra Award (all middle and high) Thanks to the outstanding music and dance teachers, the Music Boosters and the district for providing the instruction and support needed for our students to attain this incredible success! ~Katrina A. Young Artists’ ShowcaseThe Santa Clara County Office of Education (SCCOE) is pleased to announce the 2009 Young Artists Showcase Competition. Pre‐Kindergarten through twelfth grade teachers, both art teachers as well as generalists, are encouraged to submit original student artwork for selection into the SCCOE’s permanent collection. Submissions will be limited to one art work per student, and 10 submissions per school. All Santa Clara County Public/Charter schools and pre‐school programs are eligible to participate.
