Your Parent-Teacher-Community Resource!!

BESCA is the community association for Booksin.  Our mission is to serve as advocates for our children by raising funds to enhance the school experience for every student. All parents or guardians of enrolled students, teachers and staff are automatically members of our non-profit organization.

BESCA makes money by fundraising, primarily with one major fundraiser, the Walkathon. We also raise money throughout the year with eScrip, Box Tops, BESCA Donation drive, and other small-targeted fundraisers for 5th Grade Science Camp. BESCA uses this income to invest in our children. We provide funds toward our Technology program and fully support the Music program. We directly pay for student enrichment (about $70K in 2007-2008), which includes per-student additional spending money to all teachers. We pay for materials like workbooks, activities such as anti-bullying and successful learner programs (Cornerstone and Fun Fridays!), daily lunch activities, science for the primary grades, Art Vistas for all classrooms, field trips, supplemental office supplies and copy services. Lots of stuff!  We also carry funds so that we know we can have a yearbook, a Family Fun Night, and provide for Walkathon expenses in the coming year. 

In addition to fundraising, BESCA offers a plethora of fun community building events and activities.  Be sure to mark your calendar so you don’t miss out on our next Movie Night, San Jose Giants game, Community Service Drives, and Family Fun Night.

General meetings are held monthly, except in December and June, and include a report by our school principal, our BESCA president and a status review of activities, plans, and finances. These meetings are important for everyone to have the latest and most up-to-date information about life and events at Booksin.  Join us to help us discover new paths to enrich the education and campus of our kids!
