Literacy Resource Teacher Primary Grades

I have been employed by San Jose Unified School District for all my 31 years of teaching.  I have experienced a wide variety of positions in the District from bilingual classroom teacher to Bilingual Resource Teacher to ELL Resource Teacher to Coordinator of Staff Development to Assistant Principal and Principal.  I returned to the classroom 9 years ago because that is where my love is - teaching students.  Two years later I moved to Canoas as a Literacy Coach to help reopen the school.  In my current position, I help differentiate the instruction by teaching reading to small groups of students during UA time as part of their Tier I intervention.  I also coordinate The Reading Together USA program where 5th graders are trained to tutor 2nd graders as part of their Tier II intervention.  Canoas works as a team for all of our students.  I am proud to be a part of this great team.

In my free time, I enjoy quiet reading, going to the movies, eating out with friends and spending time with family.  As my daughter, Jaclyn, is a junior, we are spending a lot of time looking at colleges and preparing for all those tests.
