It is also one of six District schools awarded a Federal three-year Magnet Schools Assistance grant to design and implement a Global Communications Magnet Through International Languages and Technology. With intensive planning and preparation, in the fall of 2008 Bachrodt offered students a newly designed, challenging and innovative magnet program that integrates technology, creative arts, and second language instruction.  Bachrodt is providing students with an opportunity to become bilingual and biliterate in a second language in its Two-Way Bilingual Immersion magnet strand (Spanish and English), which is now implemented in Kindergarten and 1st grade. In order to meet the needs of our diverse population, experienced, dedicated staff will continue to implement a high academic, standards-based curriculum while focusing on the positive development of the whole child.  Parent involvement is a key component of the school’s enhanced magnet program.  Bachrodt and District staff, parents and the business community are working together to provide an excellent educational learning environment for our students.

At Booksin, we believe in teaching children that they have the responsibility to actively make a difference. Parents are also actively involved in the educational process of the students by supporting the school with their time, talent, and resources. Parents volunteer their time and talent in a variety of ways. Whether they help out in the classroom, on BESCA or School Site Council, parents are welcome to volunteer to support education. This year we are pleased to announce our noon-time program, ‘The Mileage Club’. This is the newest piece of our Cornerstone program. Our Lifelab garden is in the process of being refreshed with a generous donation from the Michael Lee Environmental Foundation. This is the culmination of several years’ effort by a dedicated group of parents who are passionate about gardening and kids!

The goal of Walkathon is to bring our community together to provide not only funding for essential programs, but also to build stronger community connections.
