The vision of Simonds School is to “Fostering high expectations, inspiring social responsibility, and embracing community connections.” Students are surrounded by a thriving, caring community that believes success is measured by both academic and character growth. Faculty, staff and parents work hand in hand to offer a well-rounded education, enabling students to reach their fullest potential while giving them the opportunity to achieve rigorous District and State academic standards. Critical thinking skills, creativity, problem solving, hands-on activities, phonics, creative writing, and the love of literature and the arts are stressed. Outstanding school-wide music and technology programs are taught by full-time specialists. Parents participate in all aspects of school life, logging more than 11,000 volunteer hours each year. Simonds was designated a California Distinguished School in 2000 and a National Blue Ribbon School in 2001.
