Academic Performance Index. The strength of Leland comes from rigorous academic standards, motivated students, supportive parents and community, and a highly qualified staff. With a communications specialty theme, Leland has the number one ranked Speech and Debate program in the nation. Leland offers unique opportunities in languages and media communication, while thoroughly preparing students for higher education. Over ninety percent of Leland students go on to college. The following goals are being implemented: improved student achievement; high standards and mastery of rigorous academic material; varied forms of assessment; a personalized and safe learning environment; a curriculum integrating technology and real life experiences.
