Eligible low-income families (must meet low income guidelines set by the state)
Family where parent is disabled, with a medical or psychiatric need
Priority given to a child referred by Child Protective Services

Early Education Program Overview SJUSD Early Education Department
State Preschool
This part-time program is for qualifying low-income families with 3 and 4 year old children. It provides comprehensive early learning experiences focused on school readiness. Four-year-old children are given enrollment priority. Classes operate three hours per school day, 180 days per year (in conjunction with the SJUSD school year). The purpose of the program is to prepare children for school and to support parents in their role as their child’s first teacher. Eligible children are served at multiple school sites, families must meet state low income guidelines.
