Veronica Miranda-Pinkney Teacher of the Year

Veronica Miranda-Pinkney is San Jose Unified School District’s Teacher of the Year.  For the past year, Veronica has been Bachrodt Academy’s Instructional Coach and English Learner Program Coordinator.  During her first year at Bachrodt, she established‚ “Los Dichos,” a parent involvement program in which a parent and a teacher read a bilingual literature book in Spanish and English to a class. Veronica has led the recruitment efforts for Bachrodt’s Two-Way Bilingual Immersion program strand and has been a member of San Jose Unified’s successful conversion charter school committee for Bachrodt. Veronica is the type of person who rolls up her sleeves and works side by side with the teachers and parents. She has proven to be an outstanding leader at Bachrodt and in her work with Migrant Education.

In April 2008, Veronica was recognized as “Outstanding Teacher/Honored Alumni” at the California Department of Education 29th Annual Migrant Education Parent Conference. Veronica was also elected as a state delegate to the National Education Association Representative Assembly in Washington, DC for July 2008.  Congratulations Veronica!
