Bachrodt Academy Conversion Charter

The Academy of Achievement at Bachrodt is the District’s first elementary Conversion Charter School.  It is also one of six District schools awarded a three-year Magnet Schools Assistance grant funded by the US Department of Education to design and implement a new magnet program.  With intensive planning and preparation this year, in the fall of 2008, Bachrodt will offer students a newly designed, challenging and innovative program that integrates technology, creative arts, and second language instruction.  Bachrodt will provide students with an opportunity to become bilingual and biliterate in a second language in its Two-Way Bilingual Immersion strand (Spanish and English), beginning with Kindergarten this fall.  In order to meet the needs of our diverse population, experienced, dedicated staff will continue to implement a high academic, standards-based curriculum while focusing on the positive development of the whole child. Parent involvement is a key component of the school’s enhanced program.  Bachrodt and District staff, and parents and the business community are working together to provide an excellent educational learning environment for our students.
