Bachrodt Academics

Bachrodt will present a carefully crafted, PI approved, standards-based curriculum in Language arts/reading and spelling, social science/history, mathematics, science, arts and music. Additionally, Bachrodt will add the magnet theme of Global Communications through International Languages and Technology. In every subject, students will be taught how to use technology in their learning process, especially in English and other languages by using technology effectively and how to communicate with many audiences about many subjects in many languages, often their native languages, in every part of the globe.
In a structured English Immersion (SEI) program, English learners will be placed in an English language classroom taught by a highly qualified teacher who incorporates English language development strategies to teach students English. Parents of language learners may require a bilingual program for their children, the academic and language acquisition Bilingual Program (ALA). This program will incorporate Spanish instruction in core subjects and English language development over a span of a year.
By adding a Pre-Kindergarten program and extending their after-school day-care program, both at District expense, the District plans to help draw a significant number of diverse students to the Bachrodt magnet. By carefully restructuring their traditional K-5 instructional program, Bachrodt plans to increase their enrollment and diversity. Establishing a strong base of instructional technology and enriching the new magnet with a strong emphasis on the development of communications skills will ensure student achievement in the International languages represented.
