> Peter Burnett Federal Magnet Academy
General InformationBurnett has adopted the Middle Years Program of the International Baccalaureate Organization (MYP) as its magnet focus. This program allows for a rigorous accelerated program that focuses on five areas of interaction: Approaches to Learning; Community and Service; Environment; Health and Social Education; and Homo Faber. These five areas are integrated into every subject area, which are English/Language Arts, World Languages, Technology, Fine Arts, Mathematics, Science, Humanities and Physical Education. The Middle Years Program follows courses of study that is approved and prescribed by the International Baccalaureate Organization and also incorporates the State, district, and national standards. Part of the excitement of being at Burnett is the strong technology program in which each student participates. Additional engagement is provided by Instrumental Music, as well as Studio and Digital Art, the anchors of the Fine Arts program. The Academy is proud of its community support that guarantees students feedback through a positive reinforcement program. Students are assured opportunities to participate in integrated academic, social clubs, Peace Builders and other co-curricular activities including sports. |
