There are many opportunities for students to experience technology and its applications at Burnett Academy. These experiences offered to students include:
- Multimedia computer labs, where technology is incorporated into the all subject areas. These labs offer students exposure to simple computer applications, presentations, multimedia production, virtual disections, and internet access.
- Mobil computer labs bring the use of computers directly into the classrooms including internet access through a wireless network.
The recently updated collection and resources in the Media Center offers students supervised access to computers as an opportunity to incorporate technology into their education. The Media Center has also expanded the fiction and nonfiction collection by 10,000 titles.
- A digital art lab for students.
- Creativity as an advanced component to the Studio Art Program.
- Exploratory computer is an 18 week course that uses Apple eMac computers as a tool to teach the following subjects: keyboarding, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, computer drawing and painting, the internet and age/grade-appropriate educational and informative websites, and a project design cycle. The curriculum aims to teach how common software applications are used in the real world and that use of a computer is part of one’s work, not something that is done separately. This also ensures that all students will have access to the same resources to complete their assignments.
