Advisory CommitteesThese committees provide opportunities for parents to volunteer and serve as valuable assets to our schools and communities.
Autism Advisory Committee (AAC)
The AAC is composed of parents and staff. The committee meets on the first Monday of the month from October to May from 4:00 - 6:00 PM.The purpose of the committee is to: Community Advisory Committee (CAC SE) of Special Education

District English Learners Advisory Committee (DELAC)
The District English Learners Advisory Committee meets regularly to advise the District governing board regarding District goals and objectives, and to assist in developing a district-wide plan for English Learners Education. GATE Parent Advisory Committee (GAC)
A District GATE Parent Advisory Committee (GAC) meets monthly to discuss and solve issues, plan district-wide parent nights, and work on district GATE projects for students. Contact the GATE office at 535-6087 for additional information. GATE web site.
Migrant Education Parent Advisory Committee (PAC)
The Migrant Education PAC meets regularly to advise and help plan the program and budget for Migrant Education. Members are elected in a district-wide process from among the parents whose students are in the Migrant Education Program. Call 535-6360 for further details.
Parent Education/Involvement Task Force
The Task Force meets regularly to advise, assist and review the effectiveness of the Parent/Community activities at the district and school level. The members are parents, teachers, administrators and community members. The Parent Education/Involvement Office is at the district office, Room 341
Parent Teacher Association/Parent Teacher Student Association Council
The San José Unified PTA Council provides leadership training and provides a forum to allow local PTA/PTSAs to work together on district-wide issues. It also provides a communication link with 6th District PTA at the county level. Each PTA/PTSA Unit is a member of the San Jose Council. The PTA Council maintains an office in the District Office Building at 855 Lenzen Avenue, San Jose, and may be reached by telephone, by leaving a message at 535-6000.
School English Learners Advisory Committee (SELAC)Each school with more than 20 Limited English Proficient (LEP) students must establish an English Learners Advisory Committee. It may be a sub-committee of the School Site Council (SSC). Committee members are elected by the parents of the LEP students. The SELAC assists in school needs assessments and developing ways to make parents aware of the importance of regular school attendance.
