1. Carefully define the SJUSD culture and improve communications to internal and external stakeholders

1.1 Improve the public’s perception of the SJUSD
1.2 Implement a consistent practice of customer service, collaboration, empowerment and respect for parents.

2. Maintain a balanced budget

2.1 Use the “Vital Few Priorities” to guide resource allocation
2.2 Monitor fiscal and enrollment trends over the next 3-5 years
2.3 Implement “Fair Share” concept with unions
2.4 Explore solar and other alternative energy sources with the goal of increasing self-sufficiency and containing costs.

3. Improve student achievement

3.1 Set and implement high expectations for all students
3.2 Continue to narrow the achievement gap
3.3 Improve math and science scores
3.4 Improve literacy
3.5 Meet state and Federal growth targets

4. Develop, promote and implement a comprehensive career ladder program to ensure the District maintains a highly qualified staff

5. Continue the Board’s commitment to its operating agreements, to working collaboratively as a team and to its individual and collective professional learning.
