Grant Elementary School

Grant Academy is a Success For All (SFA) school. The SFA goal is for all students to read at or above grade level by grade 3 and to maintain grade level reading ability from then on. To meet the goal, students are grouped at their level after assessments every eight weeks. The school offers Academic Language Acquisition classes for bilingual students and English Language Development classes for English Learners. The school’s media center houses an extensive library with four student computer stations. Grant has a computer lab with 32 flat screen iMacs. Writing is also a focus at Grant. Teachers are trained in Step Up to Writing and Writer’s Workshop strategies.
In addition to the new District math program, Grant uses 50-in-a-Minute to improve math computation skills. Grant’s endeavors are supported by a partnership with Applied Materials and Partners in School Innovation. Extended after school programs are offered to assist with homework and to provide extra curricular activities.
