Art & Design
Advanced Art

I teach Art & Design at the beginning and advanced level at John Muir Middle School.  In my class students are encouraged to think outside the box and use their imaginations to create visual compositions that show who they are as a person, and as a young artist.  I teach two different classes.  One is a semester long course which is titled Painting, Drawing & Design.  The second class is a year long course titled Heritage Art.  In both of these classes students learn the elements and principles of art along with color theory and design concepts.  While the students are learning about art and design I am also teaching them about art history and other cultures from around the world and how art connects us all.

I have been living in the Bay Area all my life. I went to San Jose State University where I graduated Cum Laude with a B.F.A. in Art with a Concentration in Photography.  I then went to Humboldt State University where I received my Multiple Subject Credential as well as my Single Subject Credential for Visual Arts.  I taught down south in the Santa Monica School District for a year and then came back north to teach here at John Muir since 2006.
