I’m a Connecticut Yankee who grew up in the Bay Area, and then lived and worked in Durango, Mexico for four years. My main academic interests are language acquisition, linguistics, ethnography, and cultural studies.  I’ve taught in bilingual and second-language education in San José Unified for 22 years.

My undergraduate education was at Universidad Juárez del Estado de Durango, México, Columbus College, Sevilla, Spain, and University of California, Davis with a B.A. in Chicano Studies.

I completed my teacher preparation at San José State University with credentials in Multiple Subject Bilingual Crosscultural Education (Spanish), Language Development Specialist, and Single Subjects in Social Studies, Spanish, and Math.

In my free time I enjoy gardening, camping, reading, and music.
