6th Grade Language Arts, Social Studies, & Reading
The 2008-2009 school year will be my ninth year as a full-time middle school teacher. I’m fortunate and honored to be a part of the John Muir staff. My goal this year is for my students to increase their reading and writing levels. This will be accomplished through an integrated program of reading comprehension, fluency, vocabulary development, essay writing, technology infusion, grammar, and spelling. I’m looking forward to an exciting and successful school year for my students and myself. GO FALCONS!!
Education and Extra Duties
I majored in Parks and Resource Management with a minor in History and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University, Chico. My Master of Arts in Education, with an Instructional Design and Technology emphasis, and Multiple Subject Clear CLAD Credential were earned at San Jose State University. I have worked as a United States Forest Service Interpretive Specialist and in numerous community recreation programs (K-12) before becoming a middle school teacher. I am fond of skiing, aerobics, fly fishing, hiking, traveling with my husband, reading, and baking.
I serve on the San Jose Teachers’ Association Executive Board as Middle School Director, and on the Montalvo Arts Center Teacher Advisory Board. I am the Program Leader for the 8th grade educational field trip to Washington, D.C. and I co-chair the John Muir Staff Club.
