Diana OttoLanguage Arts and Reading Teacher
Hello! I’m new to John Muir Middle School, but not new to teaching. I have taught English and Language Arts in Wisconsin, Illinois, Connecticut, and California, grades 6 through 12. Besides being a reluctant expert at moving, I have a B.S. in English and Secondary Education from the University of Wisconsin and an M.Ed. in Special Education from the University of Illinois. I’ve had a great deal of professional development in the areas of reading and writing, Advanced Placement English, differentiated instruction, and technology. I’ve been a mentor teacher for Northern Illinois University and Yale, and a fellow in the Yale New Haven Teachers Institute. I have served on curriculum, technology, leadership, and special education committees. I love being a teacher, and I’m already very pleased with the progress my students at Muir are making. I have two classes of 8th grade language arts, two classes of 6th grade reading, and one class of 6th grade language arts. Homework is regularly posted on my teacherweb site, which you’ll find listed on the right.
