September 22, 2008September 22, 2008 STUDENT NOTES Tuesday is Club Day. We invite the entire student body to visit our wide variety clubs during lunch to see what’s available and to see what matches your interests. Many of the clubs will be selling tasty treats like root beer floats and tasty nachos, so bring a few extra dollars and enjoy a lunch time treat guaranteed to satisfy. Club advisers, please check your email today to make sure your table and food registrations are accurate. If you are in need of community service hours you can find a list of opportunities posted outside Mr. Roark’s office. Teachers and students: This is our second week of the Safeway eScrip campaign. Safeway will donate 10% of the dollar value of your store receipts this week through Sept 26th. Remember we’re hosting a competition between all 2nd period classes where you can win a pizza party if your class brings in the most receipts. There are two pizza parties left, so don’t be left behind… turn in your 2nd period receipts ASAP. Auditions for the Fall Musical, Thoroughly Modern Millie, are on Tuesday, Sept. 23rd. Please sign up for an audition time. Auditions are open to all Lincoln students regardless of class enrollment or grade. Did you get good grades last spring? Then it’s time to apply to the California Scholarship Federation (CSF) again. Pick up applications and get more information from Mrs. Greene in room 43. The City of San Jose has an opening for a Youth Commissioner for District 6. The position is open to any high school student who lives in this district (our district), and will represent the district’s youth. Homework center open after school Monday thru Thursday. New York University (NYU) will be hosting an information session on Tuesday, Oct. 21st. Questbridges National College Match is offering a 4 year scholarship for low income students with a 3.0 GPA or higher. The deadline is Sept. 30. Visit the College & Career Center for more information. The College and Career Center is fundraising, and needs your help! Please join us at Chevy’s on coleman Ave. on Thurs. evening, from 4-9pm. 25% of the proceeds will be donated to the school, so don’t forget to mention that you’re from LINCOLN to your server. CLUBS: Attention all National Honor Society members: there is a meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 24th in room P112 at lunch. Wednesday morning is the National Day of Prayer and Worship. Come join the Christian club as they meet around the flagpole in the front of the school. All are welcome. SPORTS: Attention potential Lady lion Basketballers. Conditioning is now held very Tuesday and Thursday from 4:00 - 5;00. and is for anyone interested in playing basketball this year. Drop by room F for more information. The roller hockey team will be having a fundraiser at Baja Fresh Mexican Grill on So. Bascom, next Wednesday from 4;00 - 9:00 p.m. The restaurant will donate 15% of its sales to the team, so drop by and PIG OUT! Girls interested in playing softball this spring should attend a meeting this Friday during lunch in room 16. All new and returning players need to attend. l For all students interested in playing badminton, there is an open gym on Tuesday from 3:00 - 5:00 in the small gym… and don’t forget your racket! |
