STUDENT NOTES

During lunch today there is a “Slow for the Cone” activity in the quad, presented by the California Highway Patrol. They have an interesting presentation that centers around highway safety, so make sure you drop by.

If you are spirited and would like to help plan our lunchtime rallies, we are looking for a Freshman and a Senior to join our Rally Commission team.  Contact Mr. Roark for more details.

Teachers, now is the time to collect your eScrip Safeway receipts for week two of the competition and the winning class will win a pizza party. Have your evelopes with the receipts ready and a student will pick it up before the end of 2nd period.

Need community service hours?  If so, we need students to work at our home football games. Contact Mr. Roark for details.

Did you get good grades last spring?  Then it’s time to apply to the California Scholarship Federation (CSF). You can pick up an application from Mrs. Greene in rm 43.

Remember… What you don’t recycle is poisoning our environment. Be responsible and recycle… save our planet.

Concerning the dress code, CALI and Nor Cal shirts and logos are prohibited, and brimmed hats are not allowed on campus.  Your hats will be confiscated and you will be asked to change your shirt.  Check your student handbook for a complete list of rules concerning the dress code.

CAREER CENTER

There will be an ACT & Subject Test on November 1st.  Today is the last day to register, but late registration is open until October 10, 2008.

Seniors, you must register for the Oct. 25 ACT test by October 3. Visit the Career Center to sign up.

UC San Diego will be on campus Oct 2nd during 4th period, Sign up in the Career Center.

The Homework center is open after school Monday through Thursday. Drop by to get some help, or to get a jump on your homework before you leave for home.

New York University (NYU) will be hosting an information session on Tuesday, Oct. 21st.

Questbridges National College Match is offering a 4 year scholarship application for low income students, with a 3.0 GPA or higher.  The deadline is Sept. 30.

ATTENTION JUNIORS AND SENIORS! Senior Parent Night is on Monday, September 29th, 6:30 pm in the Media Center, and Junior Parent night is on Monday October 6.  Please plan to attend if you are interested in learning more about the college process, including important dates and deadlines for both your Junior and Senior years. Please RSVP to Mrs. Bruni in the Career Center.

There will be an important meeting for parents and students interested in participating in the Paris Exchange Program. The meeting is on Wednesday, October 1st at 7:00 pm in P-104. Host a French student for 2 weeks in October then visit your host in Paris in June.  Anyone may participate, and you can contact Ms. Roselman or Mr. Church for all the details.

CLUBS:

Attention ladies and gentleman: there will be a Black Student Union meeting on Monday at lunch in Mr. Kappia’s class room 54.  Please attend if your are interested in joining this new club.

SPORTS:

Attention all girls interested in playing basketball this year. Conditioning has begun on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s from 4:00 - 5:00. Also, for girls wishing to play softball, there is a meeting today at lunch in room 16, and all new and returning players need to attend.

Teachers… at this time please collect your Safeway receipts for the contest. We will pick up your receipt packet before the period is over.
