Lincoln Athletics Mission Statement
The philosophy of the Athletic Department is to strongly encourage all student-athletes to compete in as many sports as possible. Students may elect to participate in one sport per season, or as little as one sport per year. Some of the teams involve a selection process and others such as Cross Country, Swimming, and Track are able to handle large numbers, provided the student meets the coach’s expectations.
Lincoln High School is highly regarded as an academic, visual and performing arts magnet. We are very proud of all the Lincoln High School programs. In recent years, our athletic programs have improved dramatically.

Julius De La Cruz:  Scholar, Athlete, Leader

Julius came into Lincoln with a plan, balancing a dedication to academic performance with athleticism, and ultimately with leadership, both as an elected school leader and as a role model to the young men at this school.

With a 4.0 G.P.A., Julius has not shied away from the most challenging classes having taken both AP classes and Honors courses.  This rigorous course of study earned him participation in the California Scholarship Federation for over six semesters, a place on Lincoln’s Principal’s Award list, as well as a place on the Honor Roll. In addition to this commitment to academics, Julius exemplifies Lincoln’s “Do Right” creed by actively contributing to his community, working with the City of San Jose’s Parks and Recreation for more than 600 hours!

Scholarship is not the only area in which Julius excels.  Julius has played on Lincoln’s football team for his entire school career.  His athleticism and leadership on the team also earned him the Football Award as All League Lineman.  He cross trains for football by committing himself to track, having competed for 3 years.  Additionally, his senior classmates elected him as 1st Prince on Lincoln’s 65th Annual Homecoming Big Bone Royalty court.  Participation in Big Bone Royalty is an honor, as these students exemplify what is best about Lincoln students:  scholarship and quality of character.

Julius also serves as ASB Vice President and is committed to promoting school spirit by helping to shape activities and campaigns that support the diversity of Lincoln’s student population.  ASB Advisor and Assistant Principal of Activities at Lincoln describes Julius as “one of the most down to earth, thoughtful, and well-balanced young men I have had the opportunity to teach in my nine years at Lincoln.”
