Physical Education

PHYSICAL EDUCATION OBJECTIVES
The students will:

A. Participate in activities that are varied and provide an outlet for the student.
B. Work toward improvement of skills in diagnosed areas.
C. Demonstrate knowledge of rules which govern the designated activities.
D. Participate in all aspects of the program.
E. Demonstrate knowledge of the safety of activities which apply to the various activities.
F. Meet the class at the proper time.
G. Leave class at the proper time.

STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES
A. Knowledge or information to be learned
The student will:

1. Be given the best possible opportunity to develop physical fitness, sportsmanship, recreational ability, and appreciation for health and exercise, and desirable social and leadership qualities.
2. Demonstrate an appreciation of rules of the game.
3. Use acceptable safety practices in various instructional areas.

B. Attitudes to be developed:

1. Appreciation of the importance of warm-up and cool-down activities.
2. Importance of the teamwork concept.

C. Skills to be taught:

1. Warm-up exercises include shoulder strength, flexibility, abdominal and trunk exercises.
2. Performance skills of each activity.
3. Teamwork sportsmanship.
4. Rules and knowledge of game.
5. Individual tests on each sport.
6. Critical thinking.
7. Strategic defense and offense.
8. Vocabulary unique to the situation.
