SJUSD requires two years of a foreign language and many colleges prefer three. This web page is designed to help you make the right decision in your choice of a foreign language program.
Espanol
At Lincoln we offer two different Spanish language learning programs. One program is for students who study Spanish as their second language. The other is for native speakers of Spanish who want to improve and perfect their reading and writing skills, and understand the structure of their language. Both paths can lead to Advanced Placement Spanish.
Cultural and communicative projects are integrated into the program in an effort to connect to other disciplines and help students speak, understand, read and write in Spanish.
Our Spanish clubs such as the Latinos Unidos provide an opportunity to connect to other Latinos on campus and the community. The Spanish Department also takes students on a tour of Spain.

Francais
Bonjour! Ever eaten a croissant or had a déja-vu? If you have done some ballet, played in a wind ensemble or enjoyed French cuisine, then you already know some French, the language of love, culture, diplomats, kings, and nearly 350 million other people in the world. Lincoln offers four years of French including AP. Participate in weekly cultural events and films organized by the French Society or perhaps take part in the biannual tour of Paris and Northern France. And don’t forget the crème de la crème, the annual exchange with a high school in Paris.
Latin
Carpe Diem! Seize the day and join the only Latin classes offered in SJUSD. Study the language, culture, and mythology of the Romans. Strengthen your English language skills. Prepare for careers in medicine, law, or science. Studies show that Latin students achieve high scores on the verbal sections of standardized tests, like the SAT and ACT. Lincoln offers four years of Latin, which culminate with AP Latin. Join the Junior Classical League at both the state and national levels. Participate in regional and state conventions and mingle with other Latin students from across Northern California and the entire state.
