As high school students assist middle school students, they will learn to recognize responsibility for their own personal health. It’s a great opportunity to be a strong, positive role model to middle school students, develop your leadership skills, learn and practice teaching/classroom skills, and earn community service hours during school hours.
The program trains a “team” of high school students in a six-hour training seminar. These trained students will then visit a nearby middle school class for four (4) sessions, either once per week or once every other week during school hours. Students are transported to and from the middle school by an American Lung Association staff member who also oversees each of the sessions. Each middle school session lasts 45-50 minutes.
