STUDENT NOTES

The San Jose City Council is looking for two students to serve on the Youth Commission.  The goal of the Youth Commission is to foster student involvement in municipal government.  Contact Mr. Roark for more information.

Attention freshmen:  The office of Treasurer is still open and you can join the race by picking up an Application to Run for Office in Student Services.  Contact Mr. Roark for more info.

Student:  Just a reminder regarding your lockers!  do not put back packs, skate boards, dance bags or sports bags in your locker.  Anything pressing against the door or the locking device and it will not open.  We will open it for you two times, after that you will be removed from your locker, the combination will be changed and the locker will be assigned to a student on the waiting list.

Sophomores-show your 2011 spirit today by wearing yellow.  If you do, you’ll get a free snack at lunch.  Let’s show em what we’ve got… “Double the one is double the fun”

Spirit week is coming.  Next Tuesday is wear your pajamas day, and Wednesday is Crazy Hair Day.

Attention Spanish Students:  Do you want to go to Spain next summer?  Mrs. Straus is organizing a new tour of Spain.  For information, attend the meeting today in room 17.

Teachers and students:  This week kicks off our Safeway eScrip campaign where Safeway donates 10% of the dollar value of your store receipts between Sept. 12th and Sept 26th.  to inspire you, we’re hosting a competition between all 2nd period classes where you can win a pizza party if your class brings in the most receipts.  We will award three parties, one for each week of the contest…and you can win more than once!  Free pizza for bringing in receipts…now, what could possibly be easier?

The San Jose Holiday Parade is looking for volunteers to help with this year’s event.  If you are interested in becoming one of Santa’s volunteers you can pick up a form outside of Mr. Roark’s office.

SPORTS:

Attention all girls wanting to play basketball this season.  Even if you are currently playing a fall sport, please sign-up in room F and for some important information.

Also there are two spaces available on the Lady Lion Golf Team.  No experience or equipment required.  Stop by room F anytime during lunch and brunch and receive an informational packet.

There is a boys golf meeting in the gym at Lunch today.  All boys interested in playing golf, please attend.  See Coach Phillips for more info.

CLUBS:

The Junior Class T-shirt Design Contest is on until today.  Contact any Junior Class officer or Ms. Campion for more info.

GSA is having its first meeting this Friday.  Everyone is welcome, so join us for pizza in the boiler room during lunch on Friday.

There will be a Mandatory O Ambassadors club meeting in room P102 on Tuesday during advisory.  You must attend if you are a member or would like to become a member for the next school year.  We need good people who are willing to help the global community.
