Community Service Opportunities

Santa Clara University will be hosting the Sally Ride Science Festival on Saturday, March 29th. We are anticipating approximately 1,000 young boys and girls from grades 5-8 to attend, and are in need of a number of high school students who will volunteer to walk them from one place to another on campus during the day. Last year, more than 100 students from Bay Area high schools volunteered to help; in return, volunteers receive free admission to the event, lunch, the opportunity to hear the keynote address given by astronaut Janice Voss, and a certificate of appreciation from Santa Clara University and the Sally Ride Science Foundation.

The Festival runs from 11am until 4:15pm. Volunteers may work one of two shifts - either from 9am until 1pm, or from 11:30am until 4pm, and are free to explore the Festival in their remaining time. Interested students should send an email to Professor Dan Lewis ( ), including their name, the name of their school, and their time slot preference.
