San Jose Unified is providing to students and their families a subscription to netTrekker classic, a revolutionary Internet search engine created just for students, teachers, librarians, and parents. netTrekker is an award-winning academic search engine that provides access to more than 180,000 educator-selected online resources aligned to the California state standards. These resources are grade appropriate and meticulously updated and maintained.
Reed teachers and 3rd-5th grade students have been using netTrekker as their safe, relevant search engine tool at school. netTrekker is more than just a database, it allows you to have access to high quality resources customized for Elementary (K-5), Middle (5-8), or High School (9-12). It connects your child to a wealth of valuable educational material on the Internet into an organized and easy-to-use resource. From school or home, students can search netTrekker classic and find resources tailored specifically to their individual needs. It helps extend the classroom into each student’s home and connects parents directly to the learning process.
To use this valuable tool from home ask your child for the Reed user name and password, or check with your child’s teacher for that information. Take the online tour and listen to educators testimonials. Then enjoy using netTrekker with your child for theme searches, famous person searches, content searches, homework help, or links to online learning games.
If you have any questions about using netTrekker, please contact Mrs. Walker, in the Computer Lab.
