Principal’s Message

Hello and welcome to Trace!

Trace is a K-5 elementary school with a strong academic program as well as performing arts programs for all students.  There are performances throughout the year and all students have art, drama, and music classes.  In the upper grades, band and strings are offered and students may apply for admission to the lunch time guitar club. Folkloric Dance class is offered after school. All of these visual and performing arts programs enhance our regular instruction and strengthen the curriculum to give the students a very rich and happy learning experience at Trace.

At Trace, parent volunteers are a vital part of the community.  On any given day they assist with campus activities both inside and outside classrooms. We offer the choice to be part of the Parent Involvement in Education (PIE) program, which is a commitment from each family to volunteer for four hours each month to assist with various activities and events.  The PIE program is part of the school culture and helps create a unique, family-oriented environment as well as contributing to increased student academic success and overall sense of feeling good about being at Trace.

Trace offers Project Cornerstone programs and one component is the Los Dichos/ABC reading campaign.  This is a program to incorporate asset building into classrooms and teaches students how to be good citizens, expect respect, get along with others, and become generally strong, confident contributing members of the Trace community.  Parents read specific books with messages that address many assets such as Family Support, Caring Neighborhood, Safety, Time at Home, Cultural Competence, and Positive Cultural Identity.
