Students are being serviced by highly qualified teachers, and there are NBC teachers on site.  Besides, many teachers on site have obtained or are working on getting their Masters.  There are also two international teachers in our staff.
We service neighborhood kids. This school is central to the well being and safety of the surrounding area.Ninety-Five percent of our students are English Language Learners, and eighty-Five percent of our students are on the reduced/ free lunch program.
Washington Elementary provides the students and the community with access to invaluable resources such as cultural activities, technology, and adult education classes. The programs offered to the parents and students help to build a strong sense of community and promote a harmonious residential area.
Mission

1. Learning Environment
Washington School’s learning environment challenges all students with rigorous standards.  Grade level teachers work together to prepare engaging instructional plans, which serve to accelerate math and language arts skills.  Monthly character traits are highlighted each month, as students learn the importance of honesty, leadership, organization, goal setting, and other traits necessary for future success. A college-going culture is emphasized throughout the year, beginning in kindergarten.  Monthly award assemblies and Monday school-wide messages reinforce student achievement.
2. Professional Culture
Washington teachers are committed to professional growth, as evidenced by the number of trainings teachers attend (Avenues, GLAD, Reading First, Accelerated Reader . . .), the number of teachers who have attended or are enrolled in a masters program, and the numerous efforts made to share best practices.  by through participation in masters programs, independent workshops and trainings. Teachers collaboratively reflect on analyzed data provided by Partners in School Innovation, classroom assessments, and teacher generated assessments. Every teacher monitors the students growth throughout the grade levels by communication and collaboration with each other taking into consideration the whole child.
