Parent Involvement

Parent Volunteers

A child’s success in school is best assured when the school and the home work in partnership. We welcome and encourage parent volunteers. Following are just a few ways you can get involved at Willow Glen:

Assist educational program in the classroom, under supervision and request of the teacher.
Prepare materials at home
Work as a volunteer in the office or on the playground
Participate in the School Site Council or the PTA
Chaperone during school sponsored field trips
Attend school activities and events

Parent Teacher Association (PTA)

The PTA is an organization devoted to working for the children and families in our school community. A membership drive will be held in the fall and we encourage all parents to join this national organization. PTA meetings are held monthly. PTA also sponsors other school events during the year. Please check the monthly calendars for dates and times of all events.

School Site Council (SSC)

The School Site Council is a representative team of parents, teachers and the principal that uses its combined resources of knowledge to make the school the best it can be through the school improvement process. Parents who wish to become more deeply involved in the school may consider running for membership on the SSC. The SSC advises, coordinates, monitors, and evaluates school improvement programs. All parents are invited to attend SSC meetings which are held on the second Tuesday of every month at 6:00 p.m.
