Financial Aid

Financial Aid for college can be a complex and confusing area. The College and Careers Center provides services to help students and parents navigate the arena of Financial Aid, and ensure that all students, whether they are planning to attend four-year or two-year
colleges, have the information they need to apply for Financial Aid.

The following events are important for all Seniors and their parents:

Financial Aid Night on Tuesday, January 19th, 2010 at 6:30 pm in the Library

This event will give vital information on funding college education.
It will cover the available Financial Aid programs, including how to
complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)
application.

Presentations will be given in English and Spanish.

Cash for College on Saturday, February 6th, 2010 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm in the Library Computer Lab.

An interactive workshop offering individual assistance on completing
FAFSA forms line-by-line. Drop in at any time between 9 am to 2 pm for
individual help. Spanish translation will be provided.

FAFSA “Last Chance” Drop In Session on Thursday, February 25th, 2010 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the College & Careers Center.

Your last chance to get expert help before the March 2nd deadline!

Financial Aid On-Line

The internet also provides a great deal of information on Financial Aid.

The following government websites will give you details on applying for
and receiving financial aid for college:

This is the site to get information on the FAFSA, as well as complete an
online application.

http://www.pin.ed.gov
Apply here for a FAFSA PIN, necessary to electronically sign the online
FAFSA application.

http://www.studentaid.ed.gov
Gives an overview of federal student aid programs.

A number of college exploration websites also offer sections on
financial aid, and other forms of financial assistance. These include:

Includes a College Financing Calculator and a Financial Aid Calendar,
plus information on student loans and scholarships.

http://www.finaid.com
Detailed information on many types of financing, including financial
aid, financial aid calculators, loans, savings accounts, scholarships
and military aid.

Information on financial aid, student loans, college awards and
scholarships.

http://www.collegeanswer.com/paying/content/pay_college_costs.jsp
Includes a School Affordability Analyzer, plus information on Education
Savings Plans, student loans, and financial aid.
