Empire Gardens Elementary School is focused on student achievement. We believe all children can learn so that they are ready for college and the 21st century workforce.
Our goal is that in 2011, Empire Gardens will meet all AYP and API targets. We emphasize literacy and math by adhering to the California State Standards and using District-adopted materials. Teachers are trained to use best teaching strategies to maximize learning. Both summative and formative tests measure progress. Coral, an after school program, works with students who need more practice with the California State standards. A full time counselor, two instructional coaches and a Title I resource teacher support student learning. A comprehensive Academic Language,Acquisition (ALA) program is available for Spanish speaking English language learners. Student learning and instructionis enhanced through the use of technology. Teachers and support staff work together with parents and community to assure that each child reaches his/her highest level of achievement.
