Student Data Testing Technician

Definition

Under administrative direction coordinates the District's administration of the student testing
program; requests appropriate data for reports and acts as a resource person in the area of
administering student testing; does related work consistent with the job description.

III.

Examples of Duties

Creates, monitors and maintains current and operational data files on testing; controls and
prepares student test document for optical character reader input; edits and corrects tests
data via on-line terminal; requests individual reports for analysis and use by other District
personnel; controls posting to student testing files; provides information regarding
procedural requirements of the District testing program; prepares test data for processing by
outside testing contractors; assists in preparation and presentation at inservice meetings on
test administration; orders and controls inventory of test materials; independently prepares
complex reports and supervises other personnel involved in administering the student
testing program.

Persons in this position must possess a thorough knowledge of specific District testing
procedures.

Employment Standards

A.

Knowledge of:

District testing procedures and state testing requirements;

Administering of individual and group tests and testing procedures;

Operation of computer systems and data processing techniques;

Mathematical functions and statistical methods;

Coding methods.

B.

Ability to:

Coordinate the administering of tests and supervise others involved in
the administering of student tests;

Work simultaneously on complex systems using computer coding;

Compile and maintain records and files;

Operate a computer terminal;

Meet the public tactfully and courteously and establish and maintain

cooperative and effective working relationships;

Work as a resource person to other District personnel concerned with the
administering of student tests;

Provide input into development and implementation of new computer
programs for student testing.

C.

Education/Training/Experience:

Completion of 12th grade or equivalent and successful completion of
courses in data processing or any combination of education, experience and training which
meets or exceeds standard of knowledge, skills, andabilities listed above.

D.

Licenses/Certificates:

Valid California Driver's License.
