Definition

Under general direction, the Technology Services Coordinator II assumes responsibility as
the liaison for schools in the delivery of technology services. Proposes and coordinates the
training classes on the microcomputer system, provides training in a group setting for
District and site personnel on the microcomputer system and on-line software applications;
does related work consistent with the job description as well as being able to perform all
functions of the Technology Services Coordinator I position.

Examples of Duties

The Level II Coordinator installs computer software and provides consultations for proper
usage of applications. The coordinator II maintains and updates computer user profiles of
greater complexity such as user security structure changes and demonstrates knowledge of
all micro-applications, as well as assists maintaining and updating all mainframe in the same
respect. The Coordinator II continues to serve as a district resource person to field
questions and plan a course of action for user problems. The Level II Coordinator is
responsible for maintaining the training rooms of the department including loading on new
applications and setting up new training folders for the classes to be conducted. The
Coordinator II assists the Coordinator III in the options and methods available in obtaining
data from the computer center. This position prioritizes user support requests for services
and continues to provide telephone or on-site assistance for micro-computer systems, their
applications and telecommunication problems. The Technology Coordinator II assists in
creating and implementing on-line forms on the system to enhance district processes. The
Technology Coordinator II assists the Coordinator III in the programming needs of schools
and departments regarding financial/student data. The level II Coordinator assists the level
III Coordinator in working with the administrators, programmers, and certificated staff
including the technical Site Coordinators in the designing, testing, and implementation of
applications to meet specific data needs for projects. The Technology Services Coordinator
II may assign and direct work of the Technology Coordinator l; may perform input/out
scheduling and control functions for the District's computer center; ensures timely and
proper interpretation, execution, and output distribution for each request or regularly
scheduled production run; processes, interprets and logs user requests and determines the
material for the operation.

IV.

Distinguishing Characteristics

Persons in this position must possess a thorough knowledge of technology processing
procedures. This level Coordinator is responsible for implementation of the newest software
applications being introduced to schools and departments. The Coordinator has the ability
to listen to user needs and clearly translate those needs into technology processes.

Employment Standards

A.

Knowledge of:

General principles and operations of computer systems, related
equipment, data processing techniques, computer procedures;

Principles of supervisory computer control systems;

Modern office procedures and practices, including filling system;

Instructional training methods;

Complex software programs and general elements of programming design.

B.

Ability to:

Communicate effectively, both orally and in written form;

Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships as a team
member with administrators, teachers, professional staff, and other personnel;

Operate microcomputers and related electronic and peripheral
equipment;

Compile statistical data, and maintain complex records and files;

Understand and carry out written, oral and coded directions.

C.

Education/Training/Experience:

Completion of 12th grade or equivalent and successful completion of
additional courses in technology or any combination of education, experience, and training
which meets or exceeds standards of knowledge, skills, and abilities listed above. Three
years of work experience in a technology environment and has worked as a Level I
Coordinator for a minimum of one year. This position is considered promotional based on
the skills achieved.

Licenses/Certificates:

A valid California Driver's License.

VI.

Criteria Considered For Advancement To Level III

Works above the Technology Services Coordinator II for a minimum of one year. Creates
written documentation. Independently designs and delivers training in a group setting.
Evaluates impact of new software releases. Works with vendors on problem resolution
including new releases.
